First Giant Robot show for the first time in History

First ever Giant Robot fight in history! It seems that the Japanese robot looks nicer than the Americans ones. As a robot fan, I would definitely watch it tonight! Reminds me of Pacific Rims and part 2 which will be showing in cinema soon. I am not sure if I would still be alive to see robots which will have super fast actuator like Gundam in future.

Practical VFX from GOT

Game of Throne is no doubt one of the best English drama I ever watched. Love, War, and Politics, you name it. How amazing Visual effects aka VFX has become so natural that when you are watching, you cannot differentiate between CGI and real people. It's so impressive that I have to post the video for sharing.

Nintendo has finally revealed the new console after Nintendo Wii U. Their next gen console, Nintendo Switch, was reported that it runs on Nvidia Tegra processor and perform comparable or better than Ps4 and XBox One. Its very interesting that such a slim and small profile device can bring such monster performance power? We shall wait for Nintendo to reveal more details in the later weeks.

Heart of a Gamer

One of the person whom I respected most and brought me fun during my childhood times.

I can still remember his speech from GDC. I remembered that I literally listened the whole speech. Especially when he first introduced himself on the stage.

On my business card, I am a corporate president.
In my mind, I am a game developer.
But in my heart, I am a gamer.

RIP Mr Iwata.

Internet technology has improved tremendously, don't you agree?

Today while I was doing my usual research online, I came across this YouTube throwing up notification "PSY performs his new song "Gentleman" in concert"

Curiously throwing aside my research, I clicked on the link. The link pointed me to YouTube live channel about this popular korean guy named Psy. The guy who became worldwide popular from YouTube due to his weird but funny and catchy MTV. Just in YouTube alone, he earned about 8 million dollars for his Gangnam Style song. This time he put up a live concert in Korea and YouTube to debut his new album Gentlemen.

As I was watching, I still cannot believe I'm sitting comfortably on my sofa watching a live stream concert from Korea. (moreover its free)

Internet technology has really catching up a lot comparing to 10 years ago where people are just starting to jump into broadband speed. Back then there were ICQ, mIRC, friendster..etc. Skype, facebook, instagram, pinterest...etc are ruling the internet world... for now. So who's next to take over them?

A Mario hack level that play by itself + playing a song.

This is by far the craziest Mario Hack I have seen, the level play a series of famous jap songs remix and make the level to sync the rhythm with the song. Moreover the its a level that play itself, meaning the player does not need do anything. Its 11 min long so enjoy!

First Try on Microsoft Xbox Kinect

Was invited to the exclusive event to get to see and demo the preview of Xbox Kinect. So far the motion capture was pretty accurate from what I see. Accuracy wise is about 95%. It is able to detect the vital point of the human body except for some cases where clothes might be cut off a bit but it doesn't really affect the gameplay.

So far the impressive game which I see for now are, Your Shape Fitness Evolved by Ubisoft, Kinect Adventures by Microsoft and Dance Central by Harmonix.

First Demo on Robotics

Few months ago I blog a post on a robot that can solve rubik cubes, this had led me into great interest on exploring more on robotics which eventually put me into another expensive hobby. On exploring more on affordable and customisable robots, I have made my decision on getting Lego Mindstorms. Reason being its affordable, customisable and even programmable using Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio R3 which they are now giving free! :) I went to my local retailer and found out it has been out of stock for quite sometimes. The only place you can find is from the Toy 'r us which cost like 499?! Instead of getting at that price, I went online and get it which was much cheaper

Finally it arrived.

As the box stated, you can build your first robot within like 30min and get it programmed in 1 min if you can understand how programming logic works. So for my first robot, which I named it 'Robby' ~_~, I follow the instruction and set the NXT program(preset commands) from NXT Brick(The main controller unit) which you can give only like 5 instructions to tell what the robot should do. So I just simply set Robby to move forward once it started and if (sensor touch) hitting any obstacle in front will move backwards and loop the instruction again (4 instructions).

On My next demo, I will rebuild robby using the development kit provided by Lego and send instructions to robot to understand more on its behaviour what it can do.
